Points-based classes calculate one percentage from all points earned and all points possible. Larger assignments naturally have more influence because they contain more points.

Grade % = Total Earned Points ÷ Total Possible Points × 100

How is a points grade calculated?

Add all earned points, add all possible points, then divide earned by possible and multiply by 100.

Do bigger assignments count more?

Yes, in a pure total-points system. A 100-point exam has more influence than a 10-point quiz because it contributes more possible points.
