How grade conversion works
Three systems describe the same performance. A percentage measures points earned. A letter grade bands that percentage into a category. A GPA turns the letter into points per credit hour. Converting means walking that chain in whichever direction you need.
The standard US table

This is the widely cited College Board detailed table. Many schools use a simpler flat 10-point scale (90 A, 80 B, 70 C, 60 D) — pick the preset that matches your syllabus.
